Contactor is an electromechanical device which is used for frequent switching in high power circuits. These are designed to handle high inrush current when starting large motors or other inductive loads. Contactor has a coil, contacts & enclosure when the coil gets energized it creates a magnetic field which attracts the contacts and complete the circuit to make the current flow through the load. These are mostly used in industrial application to control the electric motors, pumps, fans & other electrical loads.
