These conditions are defined as \u2018FAULTS\u2019.Further, fault is categorized as mentioned below:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Overload<\/li>\n<li>Short Circuit<\/li>\n<li>Earth<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"TYPES_OF_CIRCUIT_BREAKERS\"><\/span>TYPES OF CIRCUIT BREAKERS<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Circuit breakers mainly are categorized on the basis of application as per voltage:<\/p>\n<p><strong>1) Low Voltage Circuit Breaker<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>MCCB<\/li>\n<li>ACB<\/li>\n<li>MCB<\/li>\n<li>RCCB<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>2)\u00a0 Medium Voltage Circuit Breakers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>3) SF6\/VACUUM Circuit Breakers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>4)\u00a0High Voltage Circuit Breakers<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>VCB<\/li>\n<li>SF6<\/li>\n<li>OCB<\/li>\n<li>ABCB<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<span id=\"circuit-breakers-at-a-glance\" style=\"margin-top: -60px; padding-bottom: 60px; display: block;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"CIRCUIT_BREAKERS_AT_A_GLANCE\"><\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">CIRCUIT BREAKERS AT A GLANCE:<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"LOW_VOLTAGE_CIRCUIT_BREAKERS\"><\/span>LOW VOLTAGE CIRCUIT BREAKERS<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Circuit Breakers operating for the voltage up to 1KV are LV or Low Voltage Circuit Breakers which are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>MOLDED CASE CIRCUIT BREAKER (MCCB)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>MCCB or Molded Case Circuit Breaker is a kind of circuit breaker which is enclosed in the moulding or housing of a moulded material &amp; that is the reason it is known as Molded Case Circuit Breaker. It is generally used for the current ratings upto 1600A &amp; fault level upto 150KA.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>MINIATURE CIRCUIT BREAKER (MCB)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>MCB or Miniature Circuit Breaker is a circuit breaker which is used for protection where current ratings are lower. It can be used upto 125A circuits &amp; like MCCBs it also offers protection against overload &amp; short circuit through bimetal &amp; solenoid.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>\u00a0AIR CIRCUIT BREAKER (ACB)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>AIR CIRCUIT BREAKER or ACB as the name suggests it\u2019s the circuit breaker where the medium of arc quenching is air. ACB is used for the high current applications, or we can say that ACB can offer protection against overload &amp; short circuit upto 6300A.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>MOTOR PROTECTION CIRCUIT BREAKER (MPCB)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>MPCBs are used specially for motor protections. MPCB as a standalone device offers protection against Overload, Short Circuit &amp; Single Phasing, thus is used specifically for motor applications.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>RESIDUAL CURRENT CIRCUIT BREAKER (RCCB)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>RCCBs as the name suggests offer protection against Earth Leakage. It is used in homes, offices &amp; industries according to the current sensitivity required as per application. In case of current leakage it senses the same &amp; trips thus, saving the human &amp; circuit from shock &amp; adverse effects of current leakage.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"MEDIUM_VOLTAGE_HIGH_VOLTAGE_CIRCUIT_BREAKERS\"><\/span>MEDIUM VOLTAGE &amp; HIGH VOLTAGE CIRCUIT BREAKERS<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Voltage level from 1KV-69KV is categorized under medium &amp; 69KV-230KV is categorized as High Voltage. Circuit Breakers operating in these voltage ranges are known as Medium &amp; High Voltage CBs respectively.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>VACUUM CIRCUIT BREAKER\u00a0 (VCB)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Vacuum Circuit Breaker or VCB is used for Medium Voltage applications.
