The standard for any product is a set of rules and regulations which also carries the product characteristic details. Contactors follow the IEC \u2013 60947-4 standard.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_are_Contactors\"><\/span>What are Contactors?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cselectric.co.in\/products-solutions\/low-voltage-switchgear\/contactors\/\">Contactors<\/a> are an electromechanical device which performs switching in an electrical system. It is used for enhanced switching particularly in case of Motor Loads as a frequent switching may be required for these kinds of load. The electrical supply is <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">given to the coil through which a magnetic field is generated and the moving contact is attracted towards the fixed contact resulting in closing of contactor. Once the supply is disconnected the magnetic field is lost and contactor opens.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Accessories_of_Contactors\"><\/span>Accessories of Contactors<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Certain accessories can be used with contactors with respect to the application it is being used such as:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Mechanical Interlock:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> For interlocking 2 contactors in order to use for Power Transfer application.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Dust Cover:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It can be used for application in dusty or moist environmental condition.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Surge Suppressor<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Protects the coil against voltage surges which can damage the coil.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Latch blocks:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> For starter applications.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Relay:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> this device gets connected with contactor and trips in case of fault by disconnecting the supply being fed to contactors thus, protecting the circuit<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Applications\"><\/span>Applications<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Contactors are majorly used for applications where frequent or high switching is required. For ex Hoisting, Power Transfer, Motor Applications, Capacitor Switching etc. Contactors are also widely used for control &amp; signaling purpose and for circuits associated with PLC.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Utilization_Category\"><\/span>Utilization Category<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The current rating of the contactor depends on\u00a0utilization category.
